  3. Do you have the ability to read and write English and understand moderately complex verbal and written instructions?
As a Cook at Southbridge Care Homes, you will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing regular and therapeutic menus and setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Preparing food and nourishments, including evening meals, following standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Providing for prescribed diets, including variations in texture, and ensuring meals are served on time and at appropriate temperatures.
  • Monitoring quality and quantity of food supplies ordered and proper operation of kitchen equipment.
  • Maintaining all required records and cooperating with other departments to meet resident needs.
Qualifications:
  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Act.
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long Term Care Act.
  • Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.
Additional qualifications include:
  • Red Seal certification.
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking.
  • Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment.
