Completions Engineer

About this opportunity:

We are seeking a Completion Engineer who can enter the department with 10+ years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, and who has the core skills required to commence platform well planning scopes, including modelling software for completion design, process safety compliance, risk management, and operational program development. To support an integrated SSDCI Department with a focus on overall well experience, the ideal candidate would platform experience and advanced completion design exposure, and knowledge of our Atlantic Region Jeanne d'Arc Basin operations and harsh weather offshore scopes would be an asset.

What you'll do:

• Well Completion and Intervention design/planning for the platform wells and future subsea wells in accordance with C-NLOPB regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Topsides control systems interface and 3rd party integration to support Operations Readiness.
• Developing well specific completion, work-over, and abandonment programs to meet the well delivery objectives.
• Liaise with platform construction and operational teams to manage interfaces and ensure successful operation.
• Well integrity oversight and completion engineering support to evaluate well integrity issues and response.
• Specification and procurement of well equipment, inventory management oversight and verification.
• Provide shore-based support to offshore well operations; with periodic offshore site visits as required
• Maintain detailed well planning, construction, and operational records in accordance document mgmt. protocols.
• Compiling regulatory and well license related documentation (approvals, end of well reports, etc.)
• Developing and monitoring time and cost estimates for completion programs.
• Assisting accounting staff in the administration of invoicing and cost control for ongoing operations.
• Development and/or revision of management system documentation including but not limited to design standards, operating procedures, policies, etc.
• Evaluation and recommendation of technologies to enhance design and operations cost efficiencies.
• Providing oversight of equipment preparation and loadouts in contractor facilities, post-job and failure analysis, documentation and integration best practices and learnings into future operations
• Conducting technical and commercial reviews of vendor proposals to ensure the most technically sound and cost-\
• Support Bid Tenders and Negotiations (EOI, ITB, Contract T&C's) to support the contracted well services/equipment selection.
• Mentoring of Junior Engineering Staff and Engineering Co-op Students.
• Participating on Emergency Response Team, which may include the requirement to carry a pager/cell phone and be on call, as required.

Who you are:

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with PEGNL
• 8-12 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, with a knowledge of well planning and all aspects of completion well design, advanced completion design/equipment and operations,
• Excellent computer and relevant software skills; oral and written communication skills
• Competent with Landmark well planning software (tubing design, TAD modelling, hydraulics modelling)
• Knowledge and experience with ESP design and operation, intelligent completion equipment, and related intervention and well servicing operations.
• Exposure and working knowledge of @Risk software and probabilistic time estimation techniques
• Well planning software including Landmark (WellCat and Well Plan software)
• Time and cost / AFE development, including @Risk software and probabilistic time estimation techniques.
• This position may require the successful candidate travel offshore periodically, medical clearance and required training necessary for offshore travel.
• Consistent with the Accords Act, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador specifically and Canada generally, who are qualified, will be given first consideration for training and employment.

Assets

• Experience with intervention planning and operations on platform wells.
• ESP planning and design, intelligent well and advanced completion design
• Horizontal and extended reach well design and operational experience
• Exposure and experience with non-drilling functional scopes, such as reservoir and production engineering, integrity engineering, subsea well systems and associated operations
• Experience that includes exposure to an offshore and/or harsh weather subsea and platform development environment.
• Knowledge of current Cenovus Atlantic Region operations, and offshore activities in the Jeanne D'Arc Basin in general.
