Reporting to the Managing Director, Group Strategy & Integration, the Senior Manager, Strategy will collaborate with TMX's Business Units (BU) to develop the company's strategic growth plan in alignment with the Chief Strategy & Innovation Office (CSIO) and the TMX Senior Management Team (SMT).
The individual will accelerate TMX's performance by analyzing our internal business, and the external operating and competitive environment, to build a pipeline of strategic growth opportunities. Translating the strategic plan into action, he/she will develop business cases for chosen opportunities, define execution plans, support delivery, and measure results to ensure TMX is capturing value.

The Senior Manager will also support TMX's annual strategic planning process, innovation initiatives, and integration efforts, as required.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategy Development

  • Support the development of TMX's enterprise-wide strategy to align with our corporate vision and objectives.
  • Own the strategic planning process across BUs, focusing on long term trends and competitive intelligence to identify new products, services and partnerships to drive growth.
  • Develop clear communication materials to share findings and recommendations with the CEO, SMT, Board of Directors, and team members.

Strategy Analysis and Execution

  • Perform competitive and financial analyses to identify new growth opportunities to support decision-making for the BUs and SMT.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis of new verticals for expansion, develop business cases, and define the execution plan to enable (build vs. buy).
  • Research industry trends in new technologies and services, and build relationships with cross-functional teams to foster innovation adoption internally at TMX.
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate Development team to define an integrated, strategy execution process including identification of M&A opportunities.
  • Support integration efforts across the organization as required, which could include due diligence, target operating model design, and project management.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field. MBA or Masters level education preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, with at least 5 years in management consulting, or an in-house strategy function, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Solid analytical and project management skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong research and financial modeling skills, including business case development.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate recommendations, build presentations, and influence and engage individuals at all levels.
  • Results-oriented, self-starter who is curious to learn, comfortable working with ambiguity, and capable of delivering in a fast-paced environment.
