Auxiliary Parks Labourers

The City of Port Moody is seeking enthusiastic and hard-working individuals to provide labour assistance to the Parks & Environment department.

Job Summary

This is a routine manual work position that entails considerable physical effort and agility in the safe performance of a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled jobs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic maintenance work, including operating a variety of small equipment and trucks
  • Assist with emergency work and maintenance, while following operational and safety procedures
  • Drive and operate a variety of equipment, including grass cutters, weed whackers, and litter collection vehicles
  • Assist with maintenance and repairs of parks, sports fields, irrigation systems, and playgrounds
  • Participate in invasive plant removal and cleaning of public areas and facilities
Requirements
  • Grade 12 education plus a minimum of six months of job-related experience
  • Experience using various types of machinery on construction and landscape sites
  • Experience in the maintenance of parks, sports fields, irrigation systems, and playgrounds
  • Experience with traffic control, snow removal, flood control, and other emergency response
  • Experience with landscaping, horticultural tasks, and restoration projects in natural areas
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate a variety of small equipment safely and efficiently
  • Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
