A Nursing Practice Consultant is sought to train, educate, and develop staff in primary health care and expanded nursing roles in Whitehorse, Yukon.





This position is part of a skilled and dynamic team responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical training to all branch staff, and mentoring nurses. The consultant will identify resources required to meet program objectives, ensure financial accountability, and provide recommendations to management. They will also conduct program audits and develop educational support for practice issues.

Key responsibilities include:

• Training and education of staff to meet professional standards
• Coordinating and delivering professional development courses
• Providing training and education to maintain and update knowledge and skills
• Identifying resources required to meet program objectives
• Ensuring financial accountability
• Providing recommendations to management
• Conducting program audits
• Developing educational support for practice issues

The ideal candidate will have:

• Current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority
• Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs
• Recent experience in the delivery of community health and treatment services
• Experience in delivering training workshops/courses

Desirable skills and knowledge include:

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organization, and flexibility
• Ability to lead, coach, and counsel
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, and resource utilization
• Strong knowledge in treatment services in an expanded primary health care role

Conditions of employment include:

• TB screening
• Security clearance with Vulnerable Sector
• Valid Yukon class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
• Current Yukon RN registration in good standing
• Current CPR, BLS - HCP
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or ITLS
• WHMIS (within one month of hire)

This job requires willingness and ability to travel regularly within the Yukon by both ground and air.
