Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for one limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Media, Film, and Communications Production in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2024 and continue for 9 months.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies on the Orillia campus offers both bachelors and honours bachelors programs in Media, Film, and Communications. We are seeking a committed faculty member and flexible teacher to join our team for the upcoming academic year.

Applicants for this position should have a PhD and / or MA with active professional creative practice in multi-media, film, video, and/or audio production. The candidate will be expected to teach the courses listed below. Experience teaching in these areas is an asset. "Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired."

  • MDST 1050: Introduction to Media and Film Production
  • MDST 2030: Media Production
  • MDST 3690 Cinematography
  • MDST 4650: Special Topics in Media Production

The candidate will also be expected to manage and supervise student internships / community placements, organize the Media Arts Showcase, manage media equipment, and assist with student recruitment and advising. The candidate should provide evidence of strong organizational and presentation skills.
