Job Overview

In this position, you will apply your mechanical expertise to commission, service, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment in open-pit mining environments. Your role will involve performing breakdown and preventative maintenance on existing equipment fleets and providing technical support to multiple equipment assemblies. Additionally, you will be required to attend meetings and provide customers with reports and advice on breakdown repairs, upgrades, and maintenance practices.

Responsibilities
  • Apply mechanical skills to commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment in open-pit mining conditions
  • Provide technical support for all equipment on customers' sites
  • Research and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Promote excellent customer relations and maintain customer databases
  • Interface current field issues with the engineering group to assist, rectify, and improve repetitive or critical issues
  • Lend technical support to equipment assemblies and assist with machine commissioning
  • Provide technical support for heavy equipment on customer sites
  • Carry out equipment audits during planned outages
  • Record equipment reliability issues and communicate to OEM product support for resolution
  • Assist customer outage planning and technical meetings
Qualifications
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician/Millwright (Red Seal preferred) with knowledge of welding technology and structural inspection
  • Proven mechanical troubleshooting experience on customer sites
  • Understand the functionality and operation of heavy equipment and capable of accurately diagnosing problems
  • Superior customer service skills and communication skills are required
  • Able to participate in equipment building and commissioning phases of new equipment
  • Possess proven experience troubleshooting heavy equipment while working in an outdoor environment
  • Interpret welding procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other mechanical and electrical journeymen and apprentices within the field environment
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Teams)
  • Additional Secondary education in mechanical and welding trades (CWB certification) would be an advantage
  • Other duties as assigned
