Williams Lake has year-round opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Williams Lake truly is the Shangri-La of mountain biking, boasting the largest bike park in British Columbia's interior. The lake city is a great base for hiking, camping, four-wheeling, waterskiing, swimming, and sport fishing as well. Explore our many trails and take advantage of our beautiful parks, including the Nature Center, trails and walking bridge at Scout Island. Our indoor recreation facilities are top-notch, and recent upgrades to the Cariboo Memorial Recreational Complex include a water slide and training lanes, as well as a lazy river and beautiful fitness centre, in addition to two ice rinks.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs both lifeguard and swim instruction duties. Performs light maintenance duties, as required.
SUPERVISION:
The incumbent is responsible to the Director of Community Services under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:Minimum 17 years of age.Previous Lifeguard and/or Instructor experience.Current CertificatesCPR Level C or CPR InstructorRecognized Standard First Aid CertificationAED CertificationSwim for Life InstructorLifesaving Society Instructor (preferred)Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service Award (Pool Option)Workplace BC Level One First AidThorough knowledge of lifesaving, water safety, resuscitation, first aid and pool life guarding policies, procedures and techniques.Ability to supervise and scan the activities of large groups of facility users in and around the swimming pools.Exercises courtesy, tact, and diplomacy with the general public and co-workersDemonstrated ability to instruct and relate effectively with pupils of all ages and physical abilitiesMaintains a high level of personal fitness.Practices and maintains skills and recertifies awards prior to their expiry dates.
