Radiological Technologist III, Computed Tomography/ General Procedures, Medical Imaging

Summary: Perform complex radiological procedures, oversee daily operations, and ensure departmental standards in a pediatric setting.
We are seeking a Radiological Technologist III to join our team at BC Children's Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform special procedure examinations in CT and General Procedures, including positioning patients and explaining clinical procedures.
- Monitor patients during procedures, responding to potential emergencies and reporting any issues to the Supervisor.
- Image studies using radiography equipment and departmental information systems, ensuring patient identification and collating images with requisitions.
- Facilitate workflow by regulating inpatient examination time, arranging porters, and checking information on requisitions meets departmental standards.
- Oversee daily operations, supervising departmental staff, preparing work and vacation schedules, and completing payroll records and in-service education programs.
- Participate in staffing, hiring, and discipline decisions, making recommendations to the Site Coordinator or Modality Supervisor.
- Perform quality control duties, scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
- Participate in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program, using established methodologies to perform quality assurance checks.
Requirements:
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one year of recent, related pediatric experience, including supervisory experience.
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other national professional associations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work procedures with modality equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a client/family-centered model of care.
