Join our team at Southeast Integrated Care Centre as a Public Health Nurse, where you will play a vital role in promoting health and well-being in our community.

The Public Health Nurse provides services within the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care framework. This role involves translating knowledge from health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families, and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy.

• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate nursing programs in an assigned area
• Work independently and make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with Public Health Act, Public Health Nursing program policies, and the Health Authority
• Liaise with and refer to other health personnel, sectors, and community groups
• Develop and implement health promotion strategies to support health-enhancing behaviors
• Evaluate nursing interventions in individual, group, and community outcomes

• One (1) year of public health experience required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
• Public Health Nursing courses

• Facilitation skills
• Negotiation skills
• Conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrates skill in group education, individual counselling, and advocacy
• Uses critical analysis, reflective practice, and assessment
• Demonstrated knowledge in media communication and social marketing
• Knowledge of prevention used in promotion, prevention, and protection of health
• Applies understanding of child development
• Ability to demonstrate appropriate level of professional conduct and judgement
• Able to assist all levels of clients to take responsibility for their own health
• Demonstrated high degree of accuracy is required of assigned responsibility
• Demonstrates knowledge in community development/assessment
• Ability to exercise independent decision making in a community-based environment
• Demonstrates flexibility by adjusting workload to accommodate client needs
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and the community at large
• Identifies the importance of culture on health
• Ability to analyze health issues in the context of political & social climate
