Nova Scotia Health is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia, with a mission to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning. We operate hospitals, health centres, and community-based programs across the province, providing a variety of high-quality inpatient and outpatient services.

The Health Promoter will work with consultants and Public Health colleagues to understand population health needs and apply health promotion strategies to improve health and reduce health inequities. The role involves working with community partners across multiple levels to create supportive social, economic, and physical environments that protect and promote health.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement health promotion programs, policies, services, and initiatives
  • Build strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Use evidence informed strategies to advocate for healthy public policy and system change
  • Assess community health needs and develop plans to address them
  • Travel to community locations to work with partners and stakeholders
About You
  • Bachelor degree in Health Promotion/ Public Health or Masters degree in Health Promotion/Public Health
  • 5+ years community based/Public Health experience or 2+ years experience with a Masters degree
  • First Aid/ CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health and LEADS
  • Understanding of a population based approach
  • Demonstrated success in building partnerships and collaborative working relationships
