About the Opportunity

The Utility Worker plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff at Nova Scotia Health. This position is responsible for performing general repetitive tasks in maintaining assigned areas, adhering to established standards and proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques.

The successful candidate will be a team player who is able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals. They will be responsible for participating in On-the-Job Training programs, seeking clarification of duties when indicated, and offering assistance and/or instruction to co-workers.

The Utility Worker will also be responsible for maintaining a professional manner in work settings, observing all hospital and departmental personnel policies, and practicing and promoting safety awareness. They will participate in and contribute to the departmental quality management program and support and participate in departmental continuing education programs.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with a Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods that apply to a healthcare setting is an asset. Good communication skills are essential, and competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Casual relief positions are available.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $20.02. They may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
