We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Oncology team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating multiple appointments and communicating instructions to patients and clinical teams.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and transporting relevant documents to designated clinical areas.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone inquiries, and responding to verbal and written messages.
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including keyboarding at 40 w.p.m.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
