Job Summary

As a Packaging Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient production of our medicines. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Safety
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario.
  • Prevent safety incidents and accidents by attending regular safety meetings and applying relevant knowledge to daily packaging operations.
  • Report all safety incidents, near misses, and accidents immediately, following established procedures.
  • Embody a safety culture in the workplace, with a zero-tolerance approach to incidents and accidents.
Quality
  • Build quality into our products by performing all packaging duties according to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Access corporate resources, such as ApoWeb, to ensure the most up-to-date information and documents.
  • Exhibit Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and conduct quality checks as directed by higher-level technicians, supervisors, and quality assurance members.
  • Report all quality deviations immediately, following proper procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in the workplace and proactively prevent quality deviations.
Productivity/Equipment
  • Execute packaging orders with efficiency and effectiveness, adhering to company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate packaging equipment within specifications and provide accurate information to mechanical staff regarding equipment problems.
  • Maintain proper supplies of packaging components during operations.
  • Participate in the changeover process, including sanitation and setup, to meet and exceed established standards.
  • Ensure the proper selection, care, and use of tools, parts, and equipment required for specific tasks.
  • Communicate necessary information timely and accurately with others.
  • Support the team to deliver expected business results with dedication and integrity.
  • Work in a safe manner, collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that exhibit our organizational values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.
  • Ensure personal adherence to all compliance programs, including the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies and procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.
Job Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Able to lift weights up to 20 kg.
  • Able to meet the standard physical demands in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to express oneself clearly in English (written and verbal), understand, and follow verbal and written work instructions without errors.
  • Numeric skills to understand and achieve business targets.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Self-managed team player with a positive attitude, exhibiting cooperation, communication, flexibility, and initiative to acquire functional skills.
  • Experience:
    • Previous packaging operator experience in a GMP environment, such as the food or pharmaceutical industry, is an asset.
  • Proven technical competency.
  • Basic experience in the use of internet environments and MS office tools.
