What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Network Tooling analyst, you will be part of the team transforming RBC's network tools and monitoring processes to a code-based approach. This role has two parts, Application Administrator, and Application Developer. You will participate in developing internal business automation applications in collaboration with various TNS stakeholders to gather design requirements, feature set, and functionalities.

What will you do?

  • Application Administrator, you will maintain the visibility of RBC's network health and network performance via Enterprise Network Monitoring tool sets and supports the Network Operations Center (NOC) by quickly identifying and resolving raised incidents.
  • Application Developer, you will design, code, test, debug new applications, and create enhancements to existing software via scripts and RESTful api calls.
  • Manage and administrate various Network Management Systems (NMS)
  • Interact with Network Operations Center (NOC) to troubleshoot network alerts.
  • Participate in the development process for gathering requirements, implementing, and releasing applications.
  • Develop closed loop automation based off network alerts.
  • Automate bare metal provisioning of network equipment and script updates of device network configurations.
  • Develop customized data virtualization dashboard for Network Management Tools.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of related development experience with Python, Perl, JavaScript, RESTful API calls, shell scripts and Github.
  • Experience working with different operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, including creating dashboards and visualizations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to seek improvements to all aspects of the development process, and learn administration of Network Management Systems (NMS)

Nice to have:

  • Hands on experience working with Network Management tools, such as vendor-specific tools like Broadcom Spectrum and NetOps, SevOne, or Open-source tools, like Cacti, Zabbix, Nagios, etc....
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, TCP/IP, SNMP, Syslog, Switch/Routers, etc.
  • Experience working with ServiceNow, PagerDuty.
  • Knowledge of MySQL database, and data visualization tools like Grafana, Kibana, etc.
