Senior Leader Summer Children's Programs

Position Overview
Reporting to the Programmer, Recreation and Culture, the Senior Leader will assist in providing summer day camp / playground opportunities for children and teens and will directly lead and supervise the activities. This position will also be responsible for the safety and well-being of all program participants, equipment and facilities and provide direction and supervision of all program participants.

QualificationsAs this position is funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant incumbents must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.Experience working with children, preferably in day camp/playground settings.Educational background in education, recreation or child / youth care.Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively supervise children.Possess high energy level, enthusiasm, empathy and genuine interest in working with children and teens.Knowledge of age appropriate activities.Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.Knowledge of behaviour management.Stamina, energy, and willingness to commit to quality pro-active results.Valid standard first aid certification including CPR-C.Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver's licence.Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team and with Town employees, stakeholders and partners to achieve optimal results.Demonstrates valuing diversity
Additional InformationEmployees currently receive Wellness Initiatives, including use of facilities at Frank Jameson Community CenterHours of work: 35 hours per week Monday - FridayTemporary Seasonal: June 26, August 28, 2024Wage rate: $19.59/hour PLUS 10.8% in lieu of annual vacations, statutory holidays and benefitsBenefits: As per the Collective Agreement
