Markham, Ontario, Canada Saint Elizabeth Health Care Full time

Internal Auditor role supports the internal audit mission, providing independent evaluations of SE Health's financial, technological, and operational activities, and assisting the Director of Internal Audit in executing the yearly audit plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate the adequacy, efficiency, and effectiveness of business operations
  • Lead process walkthroughs, develop controls documentation, and critically analyze relevant information
  • Develop audit programs, perform sample selection and testing, review, and analyze evidence
  • Identify and define issues and control gaps, validate exceptions with process owners and management
  • Build relationships with business process owners, communicate clear audit scope, and provide timely updates
  • Prepare and maintain relevant working papers to support audit results
  • Maintain departmental standards and quality of audit engagements in line with the Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) Standards
  • Participate in special investigations as required

Reporting and Remediation:

  • Document clear, concise, and objective auditing findings, including recommendations
  • Prepare audit reports for validation and review by the Director of Internal Audit
  • Track deficiencies and monitor the timely implementation of corrective actions
  • Perform follow-up procedures to assess the adequacy of corrective actions

Data Analytics:

  • Conduct data analysis to extract meaningful insights, trends, and patterns
  • Assist the Internal Audit team in extrapolating concise results from large datasets
  • Analyze large data using data analytics tools, including Excel

Travel Requirements:

  • This is a hybrid role with occasional travel to our head office and other locations within Canada

Qualifications:

  • CPA/MBA/MAcc
  • Possess or working towards Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • CISA, an asset
  • At least 5 years of experience in internal or external audit
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to grasp a holistic view combined with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Team player and able to work independently
  • Ability to be adaptable and willingly embrace change
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
