About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Psychologist to join our team at the Ontario Correctional Institute. As a Correctional Treatment Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing specialized and intensive treatment to motivated offenders with identified problems related to substance abuse, sexual offending, trauma, antisocial pattern/criminality, impulse control issues, and anger management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, treat, assess, and evaluate clients to determine their treatment needs
  • Facilitate weekly group therapy sessions to promote positive behavioral change
  • Administer, evaluate, and interpret psychological tests to inform treatment decisions
  • Complete clinical assessments to determine treatment needs and write risk assessment reports for the Ontario Parole Board
  • Plan and lead research and program-evaluation projects to improve treatment outcomes
  • Provide supervision and training to junior staff to ensure high-quality treatment services
  • Consult with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and effective treatment planning
Requirements
  • Registration as a psychologist in good standing to practice independently or under supervised practice in Ontario
  • Proven knowledge of forensic psychological theories, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to use complex treatment techniques and consult and advise in diagnosing and treating clients
  • Effective communication and relationship skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to evaluate treatment effectiveness and coordinate psychological services
