We are looking for a Consultant to join our fast-growing Advisory Services team, known in the industry for advising and delivering some of the most innovative and transformative infrastructure projects in Canada and the US. We are growing our team, seeking experienced individuals with a Management Consulting, Planning, Economics or other relevant backgrounds, a broad skillset, and an ambition to accelerate their career in the built environment.

The role will be to develop and lead strategic, economic, technical, and commercial advice to clients, relating to the planning, development, funding/financing, and procurement of major public infrastructure projects. You will be working with public agencies and private sponsors to develop projects and programs from inception to start of construction. Projects may range from due diligence to market assessments, business cases and feasibility studies. The role will involve identifying trade-offs, impacts, risks and opportunities, and presenting them in a clear and accessible way that helps our clients make decisions.

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Lead or support the development of business cases, market assessments, or feasibility assessments for major public infrastructure projects.

• Prepare strategies, recommend optimal project delivery methods, and develop procurement processes for successful project delivery from early-stage planning through financial closing, construction, and operations.

• Develop economic impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis, financial projections, value for money assessments, and financial models for infrastructure project financing transactions, including risk identification, allocation, and assessment.

• Engage in client and stakeholder interface activities such as meetings, presentations, and workshops.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues leveraging the multi-disciplinary technical expertise across the firm to provide quality advice to our clients

• Manage multiple client engagements at any given time by leveraging internal and external resources across multiple disciplines.

• Act as a guide and role model to junior staff, supporting them in developing analytical and consulting skills.

• Support work winning activities, including proposal efforts, and market facing activities.

• Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks, including client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, economics, or commerce. Preferred master's degree in business administration, project management and/or finance

• 4+ years of relevant experience in the development of infrastructure projects.

• Proven quantitative and analytical skills for cost-benefit analysis, economic impact analysis, and/or financial modelling.

• Knowledge of the commercial and procurement aspects of public-private partnerships and project financing transactions.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective communication through reports, correspondence, and presentations in English. Candidates with the ability to communicate effectively in French is an asset.

• Interest in providing professional development or mentorship to colleagues;

• Strong interest for sustainable development and shaping a better world in line with Arup's values.

• The ability to work in one of our Canadian offices (i.e., Toronto, Montreal, Calgary), and a willingness and capacity to travel to suit our client's needs (both domestic and international travel).
