Geographically, Peace River has been gifted with some of the most spectacular landscapes in all of Alberta; situated on the banks of the Peace River. This town and community neighbourhoods overlap the beautiful river valley, providing breathtaking views year-round.

The Peace River Community Health Centre is an active 30-bed acute care hospital with 40-bed long-term care beds, serving a population of approximately 14,000 residents.

Home to a group of sixteen (16) physicians and a team of health care and support staff; the Peace River Community Health Centre provides acute care & long-term care, obstetrics, surgery, 24-hour emergency care, an intensive care unit, rehabilitation, palliative care, pediatrics, addictions and mental health community base services, respiratory therapy, x-ray and laboratory services.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) North Zone is seeking an Adult/General Psychiatrist who is FRCPC or FRCPC eligible, to participate in hospital and community mental health services in Peace River.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community in which the clinical practice is located
  
• Establish and maintain a full-time community mental health practice within the community of Peace River
  
• Provide hospital call assistance as required
  
• Provide psychiatric services (beyond primary community of practice), either in-person or by utilizing Tele-Medicine or another form of telecommunication, which may include but not limited to communities experiencing a high need for mental health services
  
• Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities
  
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned
  
  Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
  
  Qualifications
  • Must be specialized in Psychiatry, experience with Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is an asset
    
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC or FRCPC eligible) is desired
    
    Preference will be given to applicants who do not require or have completed the CPSA Preliminary Clinical Assessment.
    
    All physicians who wish to practice in Alberta must hold a valid license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta. For more information on obtaining this license and the eligibility requirements -
