Our Kingsville head office is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team in the high-growth CEA industry (Controlled Environment Agriculture) and high-growth berry segment. The candidate should be highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented and extraordinarily passionate about building data driven solutions to business problems. The Finance Analyst - Grower Pay position will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of grower pay and its necessary reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute the necessary analyses to support grower pay decision making on a weekly basis
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of service fees to support weekly grower pay
  • Support the accuracy of the grower pay accrual and actualization
  • Work with colleagues to drive accurate and timely reporting on plant debt, discounts, and destruction
  • Support the reporting and weekly deductions for loans, advances, packaging and plant debts
  • Have a supporting role in the preparation of the annual budgeting process, including service fee and/or grower pay analysis
  • Support business cases for loans and/or grower pay decisions, via analytical support
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for grower and customer profitability and margin analysis versus budget and prior year
  • Create and deliver weekly grower pay statements
  • Assist and potentially run the weekly guides, grower pay, and sales pricing meetings, per necessary
  • Ensure all accounting practices adhere to legal guidelines and established accounting principles
  • Support the MBWA finance team with power point slides for executive or board decks
  • Collaborate with colleagues at MPL and MBWA finance team to create and maintain internal controls
  • Ensure to follow all internal financial processes to support timely and accurate reporting
  • Identify key performance drivers (metrics) and opportunities that can be leveraged to improve the organization's profitability and create value for all stakeholders.

Education/Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or accounting from an accredited University/college is required
  • 2+ years of prior analyst or accounting experience

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary micro issues with a sense of urgency
  • Excel modeling and analytical experience is essential
  • Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with executive-level management, present information and direction, and field questions from managers, employees and external contacts
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry is desirable

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel between Canada and the US periodically
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Use of company computer
