The Vancouver branch of CIMA Canada Inc. is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer specializing in project engineering for building services. Our team, known for its strong collaboration and motivation, is dedicated to further expanding this rapidly growing sector. In this role, you will lead the establishment of a new electrical team in the BC Buildings market, with support from other Western Canada Buildings groups.

You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid mode from our Vancouver office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Electrical power design for building applications, including medium voltage, low voltage, generators, UPS, lighting, controls, communications, fire alarm, life safety, and security systems, following Canadian and BC standards. Experience in designing photovoltaic or other sustainable energy systems is advantageous.
  • Lead project deliverables to successful completion and oversee client and project pursuits in the Vancouver region.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Take charge of overall electrical project design, from site assessments and technical design to document review, site visits, and construction management.
  • Create fee proposals for various project opportunities as both a prime consultant and a sub-consultant.
  • Provide project management, leading a team to ensure timely milestones, budget adherence, and quality execution.
  • Plan and assess staff workload for the upcoming weeks, months, and quarters.
  • Represent the company to client groups and strive to exceed client expectations.
  • Ensure top-notch professional services in all work aspects.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and technical drawings for clients.
  • Mentor technical staff and assign duties as necessary.
  • Analyze complex engineering issues and provide solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior management on key performance indicators such as business development, project finances, workload planning, staff utilization, quality processes, and regional strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC. Additional professional registration is a bonus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience focused on electrical engineering for buildings and structures.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with REVIT is advantageous.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, with business acumen to cultivate strong client relationships.
  • Experience in leading and directing technical staff.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, resourceful professional.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, the BC Building Code, BC Step Code, and the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE and AGI32 software for lighting calculations.
  • Understanding of IES guidelines for lighting design.
  • Knowledge of CSA and NFPA codes related to electrical engineering in BC.
  • Experience in power system analysis and healthcare sector is beneficial.
  • Possibility of occasional travel (up to 10%) based on project requirements.

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $87,000.00 to $105,000.00, considering the candidate's experience, training, skills, and equity within the organization. The final salary offer may vary based on the candidate's qualifications.
