We are hiring for cell guards to work with Commissionaires BC at the Kelowna RCMP Detachment

We are looking for guards interested in working full time hours, which would include weekends and overnight shifts

Pay rate: $24/hr

This role will requirement to obtain a RCMP Enhanced Reliability Clearance, which can take up to 4 months. This position is unionised.

Responsibilities:

Observe and check prisoners frequently and irregularly, including the use of CCTVSupport RCMP members with personal searches (training provided) Organize meals, record prisoner activity, and maintain a prisoner activity logbookMaintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistanceMaintain cellblock security by ensuring cell doors are locked at all timesEnsure cellblock keys are tagged and stored safelyEnsure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly securedMonitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire ordersHandle and dispense laundry itemsUnder the supervision of the RCMP Officer, dispense approved prescription medications to persons in custodyPerform other duties required to support the efficient running of the cell departmentQualifications/Skills:Must be 21 years and older and been living in Canada for 5 or more yearsValid Occupational First Aid level 1Able to obtain RCMP Reliability and Public Works Reliability Clearance Fluent in English, both verbal and writtenComfortable standing, walking and being active for the entirety of the shiftAbility to remain in calm under trying conditionsWork effectively with other people, following confidentiality rules Ability to work independentlyConscientious, enthusiastic, and reliableWhat's in it for you?Gain valuable experience as a stepping stone into a law enforcement careerTraining and support to succeed in your roleHealth and Dental benefits for PT and FT employeesSupport your local RCMP and community
