We are seeking a compassionate and caring Personal Support Worker to join our Harbour Light team at our Scarborough location. As a member of our inter-professional team, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide patient-centered care.
Job Title: Personal Support WorkerLocation: Harbour Light, Scarborough
Job Type: Temporary Part-Time (12 months)
Shifts: 12 hours, Days/Nights/Weekends
About the Role:- Assist patients with daily living activities, such as meals, transfers, and repositioning, using mechanical lifts as needed.
- Perform tasks delegated by a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse, in compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Ensure a safe environment for clients and staff by reporting and documenting unsafe conditions.
- Participate in daily Patient Safety Huddles and education sessions.
- Perform other duties as required by the Patient Care Manager.
- Successful completion of a PSW program from an accredited institution.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
- Behavioural management training (i.e., PIECES, U-first, CPI) is considered an asset.
- Experience working with persons with dementia or cognitive impairment.
- Experience in mental health is preferred.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.
- Able to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, learning, and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated resilience to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Highly motivated, compassionate individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
- Strong time management skills and excellent attendance record.
- Demonstrated skills in applicable computer software applications.
- Ability to meet bone fide occupational requirements as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis.
- Must have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to start date.
