Job Title: Supervisor, Procurement

Resolute Forest Products is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Procurement to join our team in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process for paper mills, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and in accordance with approved policies and procedures. This includes managing and supervising a team of six, reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement and Shared Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure purchase orders are placed and support buyers in their follow-ups with suppliers.
  • Assist buyers in their follow-ups with suppliers and ensure compliance with delivery of ordered products.
  • Ensure all invoices are settled promptly and work with buyers, mills, AP, and suppliers to facilitate invoice processing.
  • Keep the Director, Procurement & Shared Services, informed on initiatives set in motion to improve and document procurement processes.
  • Responsible for compiling monthly KPIs and developing corrective plans with buyers when necessary.
  • Coordinate monthly conference calls with buyers, mills, and AP to discuss ongoing procurement issues.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with buyers.
  • Ensure mill personnel understands procurement guidelines and that justification forms are duly completed.
  • Identify products that can be standardized and coordinate standardization with factories.
  • Conduct negotiations on commodities and establish agreements.
  • Manage supplier relationships and resolve any problems that may arise between mills and suppliers.
  • Manage the team of buyers with respect to vacation, sick days, and IT profiles.
  • Act as a coach to buyers and prepare training activities.
  • Support team members in regards to process improvement and adapt work to reflect entailed changes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams responsible for the launch of new products and related negotiations.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve the efficiency of the team.
  • Assess current departmental organization and make suggestions on how to reorganize the team to achieve optimal efficiency of workflow.
Requirements:
  • BSc degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
  • 5 years' experience or more in procurement or purchasing.
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written) in both official languages.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent managerial and training skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
  • Talent in negotiations and networking.
  • Good knowledge of supplier or third-party management software.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to collaboratively drive issues to closure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate with all levels of the organization, and adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions rapidly based on experience and judgment even when having incomplete information and/or being under pressure.
  • Experience with SAP, an asset.
