Job Summary

Seeking a skilled Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) professional to analyze surgery requirements, perform preoperative and interoperative procedures, and ensure accurate monitoring in high-risk neuro/spinal surgeries.

Site: Toronto Western Hospital/Toronto General Hospital
Department: Operating Room
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $36.38 - $45.48 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Various Shifts as needed including Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends and Holidays
Status: Temporary Full-Time (contract end date October 31, 2025)

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze surgery requirements and determine the degree of patient monitoring required during surgery.
  • Perform preoperative set up procedures and interoperative procedures.
  • Perform advanced monitoring for high-risk neuro/spinal surgeries, making critical decisions on patient central nervous system status.
  • Ensure procedures are completed accurately and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Perform follow-up evaluation of patient's neurological status for complicated cases.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Control, as set by department standards.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree program in Nursing or Life Sciences.
  • Successful candidates required to write the Certification Examination in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) within two years of start date.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet patient care needs.
  • Ability to meet continuing education requirements.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies preferred.
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground.
