About the Role:
CASA Classrooms represent CASA's innovative model for school-based mental health services. The program aims to bridge a child's mental health and school needs through a coordinated effort by a mental health team and a teacher. These classrooms are a collaborative initiative with the Government of Alberta, community partners, and school divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families.
- Develop specialized parenting skills for caregivers with children who have exceptional needs.
- Diagnose as appropriate, utilizing the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
- Manage cases, including hosting case conferences and connecting with CASA therapists, psychiatrists, community services, and other professionals involved with the child and their family.
- Arrange consultations with other therapists or external partners as needed.
- Supervise and mentor student placements.
- Enhance the team's understanding of discipline-specific topics.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy.
- At least two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Active registration and good standing with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
