Agronomic Research Manager \r

The Agronomic Research Manager utilizes their agronomic expertise in equipment and applied field research and development, within a selected geography to execute a field testing program on new products and agronomic systems.

They will do this by providing equipment operation, maintenance and support to conduct small plot research and commercial trials where needed.

\tFollow all safety and compliance (regulatory & legal) guidelines to maintain our freedom to operate as a company. \tFunction independently or collaboratively as needed to plan, coordinate, and execute on field research trials. \tDeliver critical field research data necessary to make product advancement, selection, and commercialization decisions within Bayer Crop Science. \tImplement & execute a routine equipment maintenance program \tDirect equipment, compliance, safety, and general technical support for 1-2 Technology Development Representatives \r

They are enabled to propose and implement appropriate methods to enhance field testing efficiency and equipment utility within the field testing organization in Bayer Crop Science.

Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is an 8-month term position with local travel around the Coteau-du-Lac and Montreal area. This may be a Development Assignment or a Contract position. \r

What you will do:
\r

\tImplement small replicated plots or field scale research testing as required. Manage data using internal database systems and submit high quality data in a timely manner. \tValidate and ensure that field protocol information, site assignments, data collection, and material sourcing (seed/chemistry/samples) are aligned and ready in a timely manner as determined by the field investigator. \tComplete all safety training as required and operate safely when handling pesticides, seed, or other products as well as vehicles and equipment used to conduct field trials. \tChampion field safety and driver training events with help from HSE functional lead. \tOperate in full compliance with regulated/stewarded field trials ensuring all conditions of buffers, isolation zones, seed logs, harvest disposition reports and other necessary requirements including post-harvest monitoring of field-testing sites are met as required. \tSafely operate, maintain and transport small plot research and commercial agricultural equipment, while complying with all Bayer & provincial requirements. \tCoordinate local research site activities. \tRecruit and hire temporary assistants and ensure that all required safety, compliance, and equipment training is completed. \tParticipate cross-functionally on field testing, equipment and equipment technology improvement projects. \tProvide input to Crop Team and team members in the development of national and regional protocols.

Enable an efficient, robust field testing and evaluation program through:

\t \t\tBasic knowledge, understanding, and implementation of internal and federal confined field trial compliance requirements \t\tDeveloping expertise with the latest geo-spatial technologies \t\tBasic knowledge of modern equipment and field trial testing methods. \t \t \r

Who you are:
\r

\tFrench English bilingual is required \tB.S. degree in agriculture or related discipline with minimum of 2 years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development or R&D related roles, or Diploma (3 years) in Agriculture or related discipline. Degree must be completed by start date. \tMSc in agriculture or related discipline an asset \tUnderstanding of crop production in an assigned geography which includes all or some of corn, canola, soybean, cotton, cereals, vegetables, and other specialty crops \tBasic knowledge of precision farming/GIS systems \tHold/Able to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator certification for Quebec \tHold a current valid Driver's License for the correct vehicle weight class or have the ability to obtain one \r
