About Us

The Public Works Department oversees a vast network of roads, bridges, and ferries. Our dedicated team in the Western District is expanding and looking for a skilled Clerk to join our payroll and accounting operations.

About Our Opportunity

As the Payroll and Accounting Clerk, you play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our department. Your key responsibilities include processing payroll and accounting documents accurately and within strict deadlines.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Enter hours for payroll, verify time entries, and process travel expenses for employees
  • Handle vendor invoices, credit memos, and journal vouchers
  • Maintain records and ensure proper documentation
  • Provide backup support for the payroll and accounting team

We operate in a fast-paced environment and your multitasking skills are crucial to keeping our team on track and ensuring timely payments to employees.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate has at least four years of experience in computerized payroll and accounting. Strong knowledge of accounting and payroll principles, as well as spreadsheet and word processing software, is essential. Familiarity with SAP modules and Nova Scotia Government Policies is a plus.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent time management and organizational skills. Your problem-solving abilities and strong interpersonal communication skills will be valuable in this role.

Equivalency
  • A related bachelor's degree
  • A related diploma and two years of experience

Salary Range: $1,884.17 Bi-Weekly
