About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Compass Group Canada. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in assisting with food preparation and cooking, ensuring that our high standards of quality and safety are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various food items, adhering to recipes and food safety guidelines.
- Help measure and mix ingredients, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods under guidance.
- Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes to fill orders as directed.
- Wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
- Butcher chicken, fish, and shellfish as directed.
- Maintain work area and equipment, adhering to principles of sanitation and safety.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
Requirements:
- Certificate from a recognized cooking school is preferred.
- A valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent is required.
- Ability to operate cooking equipment and complete all other cooking tasks.
- Ability to work in a self-directed environment and effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience in basic food preparation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
