Neighbourly Pharmacy is searching for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Loucks Medi-Health Pharmacy in Yorkton, SK.

Job Description:

Operating under the supervision of a pharmacist and reporting to the Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager, this role involves collaborating with pharmacists to offer top-notch pharmacy services to our patients. The Pharmacy Technician's main responsibilities include ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment, overseeing medication delivery to patients, managing inventory, transcribing verbal orders, transferring prescriptions, and verifying the technical aspects of prescriptions. Professional judgment and the ability to discern when a pharmacist's clinical expertise is needed are critical. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and an 18-month term with potential for extension. The regular shifts are scheduled from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supporting pharmacists in delivering specialized care for Long Term Care (LTC), private and group homes.
- Processing refills, triaging emails and phone calls, and assisting front store customers.
- Data entry, receiving prescriptions, batch fill, billing, and adjudication.
- Compound oversight, training, quality enhancement, supply management, narcotic audits, and control reports.
- Conducting care home visits for pickups, order refills, medication room audits, managing ward stock, and contingency medications.
- Independently preparing and processing prescriptions, compounding medications, managing transfers, receiving prescriptions, and conducting final checks on filled prescriptions.
- Educating on health aids, certifying drug orders, checking unit dose carts, taking medication histories from patients, performing point of care testing, and conducting technical prescription reviews.
- Focusing on the technical aspects of prescriptions including patient information gathering, product preparation, distribution, inventory management, administration functions, quality assurance, and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintaining pharmacy cleanliness, equipment functionality, and inventory integrity.
- Participating in continuing professional development, complying with health and safety regulations, overseeing pharmacy assistants' work, and identifying potential drug interactions.
- Assisting patients and healthcare team members in navigating third-party insurance coverage, recognizing unusual drug distribution patterns, ensuring availability of safe and cost-effective medicines, and fulfilling any other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Saskatchewan.
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate from a CCAPP-accredited institution.
- Previous experience in retail pharmacy is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Kroll software is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check due to the position's sensitive nature.
