Aircraft Painter Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join our team at Airbus Canada. As an Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for ensuring all painting duties on the aircraft are performed efficiently and in accordance with Airbus Helicopters process specifications and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Painting and Finishing: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Airbus Helicopters process specifications and procedures.
  • Quality Control: Follow and complete all work according to work orders and Quality inspections.
  • Preparation and Application: Sand and mask aircraft and aircraft parts in preparation for paint, and apply painting to the aircraft according to ATP's and customers paint scheme.
  • Substrate Evaluation: Determine whether substrate is an acceptable base for paint.
  • Masking and Cleaning: Ensure masked areas are not to be painted, and clean areas with recommended solvents in accordance with AH specifications.
  • Final Touches: Blow dust off aircraft with compressed air and tack cloths before paint process to ensure clean surface, and perform final buffing, polishing and touch ups of Aircraft for any imperfections.

Aircraft Paint Scheme and Colour Confirmation:

  • Colour Sampling: Mix and spray colour samples for customer confirmation.
  • Paint Scheme Layout: Perform paint scheme layout on the Aircraft according to ATP and customer requirements.
  • Line and Mask: Line and mask Aircraft in accordance with ATP paint scheme.
  • Program Support: Support Programs dept with confirming customer requirements for exterior finish of aircraft.

Support to Metallic and DCR Departments:

  • Paint Process: Perform paint process on metallic parts in accordance with AH specifications.
  • DCR Support: Perform paint process on DCR parts in accordance with AH specifications.
  • Miscellaneous Parts: Support Aircraft completions on painting any miscellaneous parts requiring paint.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3 years' experience painting, with experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
  • Automotive and Collision Damage Repairer License: An asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Team Player: Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to Detail: Eye for detail.
  • Independence: Able to work independently.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to use judgment in order to solve common problems.
  • Self-Starter: Self-starter.
  • Hand Tools: Able to use various hand tools such as a sanders, paint guns, polishers etc.
