AECOM's Environment team in Ontario is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support the implementation of a landmark remediation project in Port Hope.
About the RoleThis full-time position involves conducting field and reporting activities, working outdoors and in a field office setting. The successful candidate will be part of a growing team, using their skills to support the Remediation Verification program following the removal of Low-Level Radioactive Waste.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor excavations, including scanning and sampling completed excavations and characterizing soils.
- Check and maintain a range of equipment, such as radiological instruments, GPS, and XRF.
- Assist in resolving issues and assessing whether more or less remediation is required.
- Conduct general field inspections and surveys.
- Provide field oversight and hazard assessments for construction/remediation contractors.
- Review past information to assess gaps and develop a sampling plan.
- Input data, conduct quality reviews, and prepare reports.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in consulting or construction.
- Eligibility for licensing as a Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Ontario is an asset.
- A valid driver's license is required for site visits.
