Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer

As an Electrical Power Systems Engineer in our Vancouver office, you will contribute to the execution of projects related to power system studies for our clients in the Energy, Industrial and Mining sectors. - Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of deliverables to BBA and client standards;
- Lead, prepare and present engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, estimates, budgets, schedules, drawings, calculations, specifications, quotations, and proposals;
- Independently or with others, perform electrical studies such as powerflow, short circuit, protection, arc flash, grounding, NERC PRC and MOD compliance, EMF;
- Develop and implement work methods for the execution of project work;
- Perform site inspections, testing and commissioning at client sites, locally and abroad;
- Plan and monitor work assignments;
- Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders;
- In addition to the technical responsibilities of this position, we are looking for individuals who have experience and interest in taking on leadership responsibilities

Overview of certifications and job requirements
- Experience with power system software such as PSS/E, DSATools, ETAP, APSEN. Must have recently performed studies such as powerflow, short circuit, dynamic & transient studies. Other studies such as protection, arc flash, grounding, insulation coordination, etc. are assets
- Excellent communication skills including technical report writing;
- Preparing, editing and reviewing technical documents such as studies, reports, specifications, calculations, plans, and instructions;
- Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in power systems from a recognized post-secondary institution
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience;
- Registered or able to register with EGBC as P.Eng. within one year of hiring;
- A valid class 5, or higher, BC driver's license;
- Highly technical mindset with advanced engineering knowledge
- Develop proposals in response to request for proposal (RFP) and/or developing work scope based on clients' needs.
- Basic knowledge of writing electrical equipment specifications;
- Project management knowledge including scoping, planning, estimating and analyzing project data
- Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites and other BBA offices;
