Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Project Manager. This role will be primarily responsible for performance management in-line with the four pillars of scope, schedule, cost and risk. They will also be accountable to improve and validate Ship Repair plans, processes and policies needed to deliver repair projects. Results driven, they will be expected to interface with all internal and external stakeholders to manage change and deliver projects on time and on budget. They will execute goals and objectives within an annual operating plan, commensurate with the Stratum 2 role.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent.
    • Formal Project Management qualification preferred.
    • Lean certification an asset.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in project management or maintenance/asset management, preferably on complex marine/naval Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul.
  • Experience in Maintenance Management and Asset Management preferred.
  • Program Delivery Knowledge regarding Budget Management, Risk Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Change Management, Project Management, Reporting and Metrics.
  • Strong understanding of equipment operating lifecycles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated systems thinking approach to resolving issues.
  • Both written and verbal communication skills with an ability to actively listen and adapt communication style to various audiences.
  • Negotiation Skills essential when dealing with multi-organizational programs.
  • Able to provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members and peers.
  • Ability to lead through influence and persuasion across various internal and external groups/departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage performance of the Repair Projects by leading regular stakeholder reviews (scope, cost, schedule, risk).
  • Ensures customer expectations are aligned and executed and manage external communication and reporting at manager level or equivalent.
  • Manages internal critical project communications.
  • Accountable for Ship Repair business objectives.
  • Change Management: Interfaces with the enterprise to manage change that impacts project performance.
  • Identify, develop, and implement a robust Project Delivery Performance governance structure.
