40% Infection Control Designate
About the Role:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Infection Control Designate has a leadership role in facilitating the home's model of care. You work collaboratively with residents, their families, and the Bay Side Home team to provide "Care at its Best". Strong leadership, teambuilding and clinical skills are key aspects to this role. This role is an 8 hour/day, 40% FTE temporary position and may be required to backfill other nursing work shifts as needed. Work shifts are subject to change and will be advised in the usual manner.
In this role, you will:
- Obtain updated resident status from nursing team on shift as pertains to infection control.
- Complete blood work and specimen collection as required.
- Ensure that all team members are educated and follow the proper IPAC protocols.
- Identify problems or concerns regarding IPAC related to Resident care. Ensure all team members follow the individual care plan for each Resident and clarify the Care Plan when needed.
- Conduct audits related to infection control.
- Assist with Covid-19 swabbing of residents as required by protocol.
- Support all service areas in implementing infection control guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Must hold or be eligible for active licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Experience in Long Term Care with strong leadership and assessment skills would be considered an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience providing resident-centered care and willingness to embrace a person driven culture.
