Senior Manager, WM Financial Control: Lead Financial Control responsibilities for RBC Global Asset Management and RBC Indigo Asset Management, delivering timely, accurate, and reliable financial information.
As a key member of the Wealth Management Financial Control team, you will be part of a collaborative culture that strives to challenge ourselves to be our best, think progressively to keep growing, and work together to deliver collective results. You will be responsible for managing the Financial Control responsibilities for the RBC Global Asset Management ('GAM') and RBC Indigo Asset Management Inc. ('Indigo') business with the objective of delivering timely, accurate and reliable financial information, supporting Quarterly SOX certification by Global Controller and CFO as well as Finance implementation projects to automate and improve financial reporting systems, controls and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for accurate and complete Financial and Regulatory reporting for the GAM and Indigo businesses under RBC WM. Manage overall fee calculations/accruals and cash settlements/reconciliations process. Manage and redesign monthly P&L close processes to ensure robust control environment.
- Review of line of business monthly financial results and variances. Provide meaningful analysis of financial results to ensure accurate external reporting and regulatory reporting. Create key controls and processes around booking of key NIE lines including bonus, fund admin expenses and technology /fixed asset spend.
- Ensure adherence to global policies and procedures to ensure consistency and adequacy of balance sheet reconciliations and attestations.
- Proactively identify opportunities to leverage best practices across the regions; simplify or improve the design and execution of existing controls; and improve the sharing of business and financial information across the organization.
- Identify, propose, and implement, solutions on ongoing issues by working with subject matter experts such as Platform Financial Controllers, Head Office Finance teams and business stakeholders.
- Drive change and add value through continually evolving current processes and analysis, considering changing business needs and reporting requirements.
- Lead and develop a team by providing proper coaching, clear direction and expectations.
Requirements:
- CPA designation and/or Accounting designation
- 5+ years of experience in Financial/management reporting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills – ability to work with people at all levels within the organization
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and concisely summarize complex issues, take issues through to successful resolution
- Strong knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under IFRS accounting standards and internal controls over financial reporting
- Highly motivated, collaborative, and self-starter attitude
- Ability to manage numerous priorities simultaneously amidst tight deadlines
Nice to have:
- Financial Services industry experience with knowledge of the asset management industry
- PeopleSoft and EPM (IBM TM1) experience
- Knowledge of RBC legal entity/management structure an asset
