Job Opportunity: Timber Cruiser

Employee type: Full time

Location: Flexible (Kamloops, 100 mile House, Salmon Arm- BC Locations)

Compensation: $25/hr - $30/hr

Come Grow with Us Forsite is hiring for Timber Cruiser with experience and demonstrated aptitude in timber cruising or related forest sampling. The position would be based out of our Southern Interior locations in Salmon Arm, Kamloops or 100 Mile House, BC.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Timber Cruiser is responsible for forest development activities including the development of cruise plans, operational timber cruising, quality control, data summary, the development of final cruise maps, and the compilation of cruise data and deliverables. While this position is heavily balanced to field work, both field and office duties are required. Work in other phases of timber development should be anticipated.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • Broad understanding of, and experience in, general forestry practices and
    operational forest planning.
  • Minimum of 1 year of timber cruising experience in British Columbia.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • ATC or ATE accreditation or working towards becoming an ATC or ATE is preferred.
  • Registration with the FPBC (or eligible for registration) as a professional forester (RPF) and/or forest technologist (RFT) will be considered as an asset.
  • Experience in supervising technical assistants.
