We are seeking a highly skilled Development Executive to join our Drama, Scripted Content team at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, relevant, and impactful Canadian content.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate materials for creative strengths, relevance, and series design qualities.
- Negotiate creative changes with producers, editors, and story executives.
- Participate in committee meetings, planning meetings, festivals, and workshops.
- Represent the corporation as required on juries and panels.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant competing network television programming, Canadian talent, and cultural issues.
- University degree or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience working in a creative capacity with others.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of underrepresented communities across Canada.
- High level of creativity required for analysis of story structure, character development, and theme.
- Ability to read and absorb high volumes of material, provide feedback, and respond quickly with notes and potential solutions.
- Knowledge of screenwriting and post-production techniques.
- Understanding of content and industry trends related to Drama series programming.
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals.
