We are looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our HVDC team at Hitachi Energy – Montreal. You will be part of a team of talented engineers working for Control and protection department, reporting to the HVDC Engineering Manager in Canada. You will be responsible for prepare electrical schematics for our control cabinets, bill of materials, list of connections, interconnection cables, and layouts using electrical CAD programs and in house created tools. Responsibilities:

  • As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will work with the hardware design in our control and protection system. Designing cubicle electrical diagrams and layouts, including also bill of materials, interconnection cables and cable routing.
  • You will use base drawings and extensive database to design new cabinets for HVDC converter stations around the world.
  • Work together with our customers, both internally and externally, to ensure our delivery is according to their requirements and standards. with initial definition of electrical specification of main circuit equipment in HVDC Converter stations.
  • Collaborating and networking with engineering colleagues, sharing best practice across different projects and disciplines You will have the opportunity to travel abroad and participate in building some of our many power stations around the world.

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for an engaged, structured, persistent, well-organized, and driven person who is a true team player Professional Engineering with Bachelor's or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical drawings layout using electrical CAD software.
  • You have a keen interest in control hardware design.
  • Experience with the CAD-tools for control systems, such as Engineering Base or Ruplan, is appreciated.
  • EMC knowledge or AC sub-stations and control systems, it is a merit
  • You are a natural problem solver who enjoys meeting new challenges making the complex simple and showing creativity in your approach. You are ready to work in an international and multicultural work environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required to be able to interact with various stakeholders.
  • French speaking is an asset.
