Veterinary Technician

The Veterinary Technician will play a critical role in assisting veterinarians in providing top-quality care for animals. As a Veterinary Technician, you will work directly with animals, as well as support veterinarians and other staff members in various clinical procedures and tasks.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures.
- Administering medications and treatments to animals as directed by veterinarians.
- Performing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Preparing animals for surgery, including prepping and monitoring anesthesia.
- Taking and developing x-rays and other diagnostic images.
- Providing care and monitoring for hospitalized animals.
- Collecting and documenting patient histories and records.
- Assisting with client education, including providing information on medications and post-operative care.
- Maintaining and organizing medical supplies and equipment.
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in treatment areas.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong passion for animal care, excellent communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail. Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician or in a related role is preferred.
Requirements
- Associate degree or certification in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
- Prior experience working as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Experience with animal handling and restraint.
- Familiarity with veterinary equipment, including x-ray machines, laboratory equipment, and surgical instruments.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with other staff members.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical stamina to lift and move animals and equipment, and to stand for extended periods of time.
