Detailed OverviewThe Registered Nurse at Fraser Health plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care by assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care. This position offers qualified registered nurses the opportunity to enhance their skills by rotating through specialty nursing units and completing post-graduate coursework. Some of the responsibilities associated with this role include:
- Assessing patients and developing care plans
- Collaborating with patients and their families to ensure personalized care
- Participating in care and discharge planning
- Coordinating nursing care and delegating tasks
- Teaching patients and families about health management
- Documenting patient information and outcomes
- Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives
- Continuing education and professional development
- Providing feedback on patient care programs and clinical decisions
- Performing other duties as required
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of relevant post-graduate specialty nursing course/program or willingness to complete
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Skills and Abilities- Conducting patient assessments and providing nursing care
- Effective communication with patients, families, and medical staff
- Promoting person-centered care and advocating for patients
- Problem-solving and decision-making based on evidence
- Teaching and instructing patients and families
- Organizing and prioritizing work efficiently
