We are currently seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our Finance and Accounting functions at our headquarters in Toronto. As a crucial piece of the executive team, the ideal candidate is one with a proven track record in financial management and leadership, prepared to drive our financial planning, manage cash flows, and oversee our capital structure and fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding the financial strategy of our organization, providing expert advice to the Executive Leadership Team, and ensuring our financial operations support our broader business objectives.

This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of corporate finance, regulatory compliance, and an ability to lead and develop a high-performing team. With a minimum of 5 years in an executive finance role and a strong educational background in finance you will bring expertise and a forward-thinking approach to our financial operations. Responsibilities & Expectations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively leads and manages the Finance and Accounting function of the organization
  • Lead the company's financial planning
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization's operations
  • Control and evaluate the organization's funding plans and capital structure
  • Provides leadership at executive level on continuous evaluation of short and long term financial objectives, and provides recommendations to enhance financial performance
  • Provides Executive Leadership Team with advice and guidance on financial implications of decisions, allocation of capital and conducts risk assessments
  • Maintain the ESOP (Employee Stock Options Plan)
  • Ensures credibility of the Finance team by providing accurate, timely analysis of financial trends, and budgets
  • Support the internal operations for an 3rd party audit
  • Oversees the organization's financial risk management
  • Evaluates and introduces new programs, strategies and regulatory requirements
  • Decide on investment opportunities by evaluation cash and liquidity risks
  • Prepare reliable current and forecast reports
  • Navigate financial compliance and reporting across multiple geographic entities
  • Lead a Capital Raise - Series, A, B, C and/OR IPO/liquidity event in the future
  • Manage the IR (investor relations) function of the leadership team
  • Work closely with trading team on reconciliation and treatment of trade finance P&L and balance sheet of securities assets
  • Manage vendor relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director or equivalent
  • 5+ years in executive role
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
  • Proficient in data analysis and forecasting
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial laws, regulations, and risk management practices
  • Must be well versed in all aspects of financial management
  • Proven People leadership skills
  • Strong analytical mind
  • Highly skilled in learning on the job and continuously learning
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Mature, professional, driven, empathetic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in blockchain or crypto industry
  • CPA designation
  • Start up experience
