About the Role

This position is responsible for the integrity of the production welds through audits, training and technology.

Your Responsibilities
  • Monitor quality of welds; trained in all phases of weld troubleshooting
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding robots
  • Work with customers and launch teams to ensure successful product and welding development
  • Conduct training for Heart Lake Team Members
  • Review, analyze and archive weld destruct samples
  • Develops weld drawings for new and existing programs
  • Maintain production visual weld aides
  • Participates in the development of Control Plan documentation and procedures
  • Duties also include detailing to Supervisors necessary modifications to be made to existing equipment to maximize ease of operation and increased machine performance
  • Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function
  • Required to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.
  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to the company's safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure completion of all program documentation
  • Perform manufacturing feasibilities for new and existing programs
  • Complete ECN's and feasibilities/impacts
  • Design procedures for all applicable areas
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment and technology for manufacturing
  • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times
  • Perform other duties as required
Who we are looking for
  • Weld Technician Diploma and minimum 3 years' experience with weld process design in an automotive environment
  • Proven knowledge of Destructive and Non-Destructive Evaluation testing and equipment
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in
    • TS 16949 procedures
    • APQP, PPAP, GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEA's, Control Plans
    • Tooling & Process Reviews
    • GMAW, Resistance and magnet arc welding.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools
  • Prior experience with robotic welding
  • Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant; includes willingness to travel for training/meetings.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of plant personnel with ease
  • Good mathematical, organizational and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Required to work overtime to meet customer needs
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within team environment
