POSITION SUMMARY:

Occupational Therapist:
Mackenzie Health Outpatient Stroke Program

We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to work at Mackenzie Health Stroke Outpatient Clinic located in Vaughan.

The Occupational Therapist will provide patient care services through all stages of assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services and recommendations to patients.


As the successful candidate, you are a graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy and are a member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

You demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a high level of initiative and adaptability to rapidly changing demands.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Occupational Therapist (OT) you will be conducting assessments & treatment plans based on stroke best practices

As an OT you will be formulating goals and recommendations based on stroke best practices

Planning and implementing patient centered, goal-directed treatment programs & working with Therapy Assistants

Assist in the promotion of occupational therapy services to external referral sources

Participating actively in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the program

REQUIREMENTS:
Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively with a high performance interdisciplinary rehabilitation team

Graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy and are a member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

Minimum 2 years clinical experience in Stroke/Neurological patient populations is required

Experience in assessment and generating treatment plans for patients with stroke/neurological disorders required

Strong knowledge of stroke best practices

Familiarity working in an outpatient clinic setting is an asset.

Sound knowledge of community resources is an asset

NDT training is an asset

Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Strong customer service focus and excellent problem-solving skills required

A positive work and attendance record is essential

Ability to adapt to new computer applications

CPR + AED certificate

Valid G license required

Criminal background check, Vulnerable sector check and Immunization record (current).
