Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our Liquid Waste Services team as a Utility Systems Operator (USO) Trainee. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating our wastewater collection and drainage system facilities.
About the Role: As a USO Trainee, you will work in a fast-paced environment, performing a variety of tasks, including:
- Inspecting and maintaining wastewater collection and drainage system facilities
- Assisting in the inspection and maintenance of equipment
- Performing system facility inspections and cleaning
- Performing general repairs, housekeeping, and painting
- Operating power tools, mowers, chain saws, jackhammers, and vehicles and equipment
- Performing construction duties, such as sanitary/storm sewer repairs and road building
- Maintaining operating records and submitting work progress reports
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Preference will be given to those with utility and/or construction experience
- Mechanical proficiency and construction aptitude
- Ability to operate power and pneumatic tools
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to demonstrate safety awareness
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position
- Willingness to undertake additional training relating to the duties of the position
