We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in General Internal Medicine. As an RPN in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to a diverse population, including those with complex medical conditions and social complexities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with multiple medical co-morbidities and social complexities.
  • Work collaboratively with the inter-professional team to advocate for and promote wellness, ensuring safe, effective, and ethical nursing care.
  • Contribute to the advancement of nursing practice excellence through ongoing learning, education, and reflective practice.
  • Optimize patient care outcomes by establishing a therapeutic relationship, providing autonomous nursing care, and collaborating with other care team members.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a Practical Nursing Diploma Program.
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Must have worked as an RPN in an acute setting within the last year (Internal Medicine Experience preferred).
  • Experience with telemetry preferred.
  • Coronary Care 1 or equivalent required or completion within 1 year of hire.
  • Certification (or equivalent experience) in Gentle Persuasive Approach, Managing Responsive Behaviours preferred.
  • Experience working with the frail elderly population.
  • Experience working with patients experiencing stroke.
  • Experience and interest in working with patients experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience and interest in working with patients with complex mental health and addiction issues.
  • Ability to respond to all Emergency Code situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professions/disciplines in a team environment.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients.
  • Ability to engage and educate patients and families.
  • Proven planning, time management, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record.
Working Conditions:

Must be available for all shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays) - 11.25 hour rotating shifts.
