The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in assisting the Store Manager in efficiently overseeing all aspects of store operations. This involves supporting with guiding, directing, recruiting, coaching, motivating, and training employees to deliver top-notch customer service, dedication, and compliance with all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, Health & Safety regulations, Sendial guidelines, and other initiatives. The Assistant Store Manager aids in implementing the retail strategy, including managing labor expenses, inventory, budgets, product displays, and overall profitability. Additionally, they have a strong understanding of the industry, competitors, pricing strategies, and promotional methods. The Assistant Store Manager exemplifies exceptional leadership, interpersonal abilities, teamwork, sound judgment, decision-making skills, and a commitment to the success of the Thrifty Foods team. Moreover, they cultivate customer loyalty, meet customer needs, and actively contribute to a culture of employee and customer engagement.

Here's where you'll be focusing:

  • Directly contribute to achieving Profit & Loss targets and enhancing sales and margins, including effective sales forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, labor cost management
  • Create and maintain high levels of individual and team productivity, enthusiasm, and dedication to outstanding customer service
  • Aid in recruiting, training, developing, motivating, and coaching employees, providing input into performance evaluations, and delivering regular feedback
  • Support in enforcing all corporate policies, programs, and Standard Operating Procedures and ensure departmental compliance with timely and accurate document submission
  • Show sound judgment, make timely decisions consistently, and demonstrate a strong grasp of retail operations, industry trends, competitor analysis, merchandising standards, and presentation techniques
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership with a clear vision, consistent direction, and role modeling for department and store staff
  • Lead special projects to enhance efficiency, profitability, health and safety, and support merchandising and promotional initiatives in collaboration with other management functions
  • Collaborate effectively within the Store Management team, supporting fellow members as needed
  • Leverage technology for improved store operations
  • Engage and lead community and charitable events
  • Offer feedback for ongoing enhancements
  • Exhibit professionalism in personal appearance, adherence to dress code, respect for colleagues, and commitment to workplace diversity
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with Company standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Educational and Working Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 12 months of retail store experience in the relevant department
  • Skills in reading and analyzing financial reports and budgets
  • Demonstrated success in managing, supervising, motivating, and coaching a sizable staff
  • Extensive experience in retail, particularly across various departments
