As part of the IT Client Services division, the Multimedia Analyst is a skilled technical role primarily responsible for supporting the City's Multimedia Technology and providing IT and audio-visual support for web conferencing hardware and software during Board, Committee and Council meetings, and supporting Mayor and Council with all IT requests; and other end users as needed.

The incumbent supports the multimedia strategy for the City including portable roadshows; maintains policies and procedures; ensures requests are processed in a timely manner; researches, analyzes and recommends appropriate hardware and software solutions; keeps up-to-date with new and evolving trends and technologies related to the work.

The successful candidate participates in the design of multimedia and audio visual solutions in accordance with industry standard best practices and City policies; coaches and develops relevant practices and skills within IT and in business departments; liaises with vendors and internal departments on requirements, testing, implementation and deployment of audio-visual and web conferencing equipment and software applications; trains and supports users.

The Multimedia Analyst ensures assets, inventory, and warranty records are appropriately managed and maintained, service requests are satisfactorily fulfilled either internally or by the vendor, equipment is replaced as needed and purchases are within the capital budget, procedures are documented and AV diagrams detailing systems, equipment, and maintenance/warranty plans are created and maintained.

Efficiently manages multiple simultaneous tasks, providing a consistent record of all activities, while handling confidential work with discretion. Performs related work as required.


Qualifications include University degree in Information Technology or a related discipline and five years of related experience in audio visual systems support, service and installation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

This role requires thorough knowledge of audio-visual key trends, design, and implementation best practices, video conference and audio equipment.

Ability to engage and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences orally and in writing; explain complex concepts, systems and technical topics to others; prepare and maintain a variety of records, statistics and documentation; establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts, and ability to provide outstanding customer service to members of the City Leadership Team and elected officials; works independently and as part of a team.

This position requires the ability to deliver immediate support as needed during live public meetings that are being viewed both virtually and in person by a large audience.

The role also requires strong analytical and time management skills and skill in the use of software applications. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required. A CTS certification is considered an asset.


Work Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday & Thursday 12:00 AM to 8:00 PM; Tuesday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Wednesday & Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Hours of work are dependent on operational requirements and may be adjusted as needed.
