About the role

When a merchant chooses Shopify Payments to power their retail business, it's the Retail Hardware Planning team that ensures our Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware products are in the right place at the right time globally. This team partners closely with Product, Marketing, and Finance to build informed growth oriented inventory forecasts. Leveraging our network of global partners to execute a full-cycle supply chain from manufacturer to distributor to reverse logistics.

We're looking for a seasoned and strategic self-starter to lead this critical team and unlock huge growth potential in our Retail business.

Key Deliverables:

Ownership of the Hardware supply chain business model, as an enabler of our Growth and Product strategy.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize our global supply chain network enabling global growth at scale.
  • Build strong external partnerships to enable our evolving supply chain business model.
  • Partner closely with the Product team to evaluate and evolve our inventory strategy.

Build a best in class supply chain planning team, with strong alignment across Marketing, Finance and Product to drive accurate inventory forecasting.

  • Build strong alignment rituals across Finance, Product and Marketing to ensure the Planning team has the right inputs at the right time to drive an informed forecast.
  • Drive a high performance team culture through quarterly goal setting and regular KPI tracking.
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to constantly level up the team in this constantly evolving business.

Leverage our external supply chain partners to keep pace with the growth of Retail.

  • Optimize external partner terms of service to improve SLAs and drive reliable operation of our supply chain.
  • Leverage partnership performance data to know what great looks like and hold our external supply chain partners accountable.

Make the Retail business smarter.

  • Leverage the numerous insights, feedback loops and trends captured by the Planning team to inform Growth and Product strategy.
  • Build rituals such as monthly business reviews with key stakeholders, flagging risks early and sharing key insights to drive data informed decision making across Retail.
  • Partner closely with Data to ensure this team has access to the best data to inform planning decision making.

Requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience in S&OP planning and/or supply chain planning in a leadership role.
  • Strong relationship builder with cross-functional teams; with a strong bias for action and proven experience in quickly gaining context to formulate robust plans to quickly solve critical problems.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively with Executive leadership with high business acumen.
  • Highly capable in financial analysis and collaborating with finance teams to build and monitor annual and monthly inventory budgets.
  • Experience managing external supply chain partnerships including term negotiation and performance management.
  • Self-starter with the ability to tackle large problems in a fast-paced, collaborative and ambiguous environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven ability to get things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment.
  • Strong problem solving aptitude with an analytical mindset, ability to use data and critical thinking to synthesize and outline the business impact.
  • Experience with Netsuite, planning software, Looker Studio and G Suite is an asset.
  • Experience in supply chain planning in the tech industry is an asset.
